Our client specialises in machinery installation and relocation and due to new projects won they require Mechanical Fitters to work from their busy hub.

The Role

Match mark mechanical equipment prior to carrying out dismantling works and the transfer of marking information to drawings.
Undertake mechanical maintenance tasks and fault finding on differing machinery and structures.
Assemble, dismantle and install structures, machine tools, conveyor systems, mechanical handling equipment and process/production line equipment.
Carry out of floor markings to layout drawings.
Mechanically line and level industrial equipment using machine and dumpy levels or theodolite.
Work as part of a team assisting other trades.
Carry out fabrication tasks involving welding, grinding and oxy acetylene cutting.
Accurately assess the weight and point of balance of equipment/items to be lifted.
Carbon steel, screwed pipework installation, including brackets.

The Person

Experienced in the installation and relocation of industrial machinery.
Working to deadlines and fixed-end dates.
Ability to travel and work away from home.
Relevant qualifications - City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ qualification, or similar.
Read mechanical and layout drawings.
Excellent Health & Safety knowledge and Standards
Advise Project Engineers / Managers in preparation of RAMS and instruct site operatives to work in adherence to RAMS.
Where RAMS amendment is required, follow dynamic risk assessment procedure.
Maintain site documentation in accordance with Health Safety & Quality Procedures.
Ensure the correct equipment is used safely as detailed within the RAMS.
Ensure all customer site rules are followed and respected.
All permits to work are in place and displayed.
Supervise and record any tests and/or inspections that are required during progress of contract.
All equipment is stored correctly and locked in tackle boxes and containers when not on site or in use.


Experience in leading a multi skill set team in a project environment.
Strong IT (. Office, Excel, Project, In-house systems, etc.) and numeracy skills
Slinger banksman certification
Gantry Experience
Work at height
FLT licence (7-tonne and above), including the use of jib attachment.
Overhead crane licence
IPAF (Cherry Picker/Scissor lift licence.)
Knowledge of lifting/rigging
Display a flexible 'can do' approach
