South Central Ambulance Service is looking for Emergency Call Handlers to join their vibrant contact centre in Bicester. In this role, you will take emergency 999 calls offering the best service on every call as you provide lifesaving support to the general public. You will have good judgement and be able to make informed decisions as youll need to discern the severity of calls and provide appropriate support over the phone. This will include providing first aid information, dispatching ambulances and passing on information to relevant services. The ideal candidate will need a minimum of 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English. Not only is this work highly rewarding, but youll receive a competitive salary starting with paid training at £8.53 per hour. Youll also benefit from 27 days holiday per annum (based on fulltime hours) plus 8 bank holidays, an NHS pension or NEST scheme and number of great high street discounts with brands such as Nandos and Dominos. Working within the NHS may also entitle you to apply for a Key Worker Housing scheme. On offer is 4weeks of training and a further 8week support programme. You must be available to attend training from 9.00am 5.30pm Monday to Friday for the initial 4 weeks. We have training courses commencing on 9 th April, 7 th May and 4 th June 2018. Once youve completed your training and support program you will also receive an increase of pay to £10.77 per hour. The site in Bicester is operational 24/7, 365 days a year, so applicants will need to be flexible to cover a new rota every 4 weeks.
