Mechanical/ Product Design Engineer Electronic Products Location: Lancashire £28,000 £35,000 + Benefits Permanent Role I am supporting an engineering business based in Lancashire who specialise in the design, development and manufacture of electronic products and systems for security and safety. Due to continued growth they are looking to appoint an addition mechanical/ product design engineer. Role Overview: Working as part of a tight knit and multidiscipline R&D team you will take responsibility for the full lifecycle development of new products and support the continuous improvement of existing products. Key Responsibilities: Requirements capture for new products Development of mechanical concepts using sketches, prototyping and 3D CAD The production of 3D detailed designs and 2D manufacturing drawings Selection of materials and components Compile product tests and verification procedures: IP, EMC, impact ect. Manage relationships with internal & external manufacturing, assembly and production teams Monitor location and status of tooling Creation and maintenance of BoMs and production packs Assist the production department with the design of jigs & fixtures Experience and Background Required: A highprofile Design Engineer with at least 3 years experience and a good track record in the design and development of electromechanical products Proficient 3D CAD user for the creation of concepts, detailed designs and manufacturing drawings Good concept design skills focusing on aesthetics and user experience Experience designing plastic injection moulded components with knowledge of plastics & injection mould tooling Good working knowledge of other manufacturing processes and tooling i.e. sheet metal design, die casting and machined parts (aesthetic and functional applications) Experience working with manufacturers with the ability to run tooling projects & trials Knowledge of electromechanical design including electronic packaging, PCBs, EMC & ESD compliance and testing & ingress protection Geometrical & dimensional tolerances Qualification Requirements A Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline This is an excellent position to work for a company whose products are used to save lives and offers the opportunity to become part of a successful and growing business who are constantly striving to be at the forefront of innovation.
