Sous Chef / Deputy Head Chef / Senior Chef

Job Title: Sous Chef Location: Central London Salary: £28,000 pa plus share of service charge Hours: Full Time, Permanent The company owns a static ship permanently moored on the Thames just opposite the London Eye in the heart of the West End. They have an A La Carte restaurant (80 covers) serving the very best of seasonal British food and also offer a Bar and Deck Menu consisting of more casual dining options. The function space accommodates up to 120 guests and is used for a wide variety of occasions from comedy nights to weddings. There is also a small private dining room. Job Description: The Sous Chef position works closely with the Head Chef and shares responsibility for food quality, consistency, health and safety, staff welfare and training The Sous Chef will deputise for the Head Chef when he is not on the ship An involvement in menu development, supplier selection, food GP and wage costs control will also be required An understanding of, and shared accountability for, food hygiene and health and safety compliance is essential Excellent communication skills and the ability to help build, nurture and maintain a cohesive, dedicated and skillful team is a prerequisite Key Requirements: Previous experience as a Sous Chef A CV including significant experience in high quality establishments Excellent references Consistently high standards and great attention to detail Strong work ethic, calm under pressure and cando approach Understanding of the commercial side of kitchen management Passion for training, nurturing and team building Passion for food generally, and British food in particular All applicants must be able to prove eligibility to work in the UK.
