Closing Date to apply: 19.01.18 Following a successful start-up phase and formal launch in March 2017, our client is seeking to expand their exciting and innovative research and capability building programmes. As part of this rapid expansion, we are recruiting 10 delivery-focussed data scientists or senior data scientists with a varied range of experience, skills and working patterns. As one of the Data Scientists', you will have a passion for data science and use it for the public good. You will relish the challenge presented by delivering benefits from the broad span of projects. You will lead or work within multi-disciplinary delivery teams and collaborate with others in government, industry, academia and charities, both in the UK and internationally to design, build and improve new and existing digital products and platforms developed as part of the research activities. As the successful Data Scientist, you will be able to demonstrate the following experience: • Strong programming ability (R, Python or other data analysis relevant languages.) • Data analytics - such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, statistical modelling, pattern recognition, supervised and unsupervised learning, data mining, predictive analysis and natural language processing (NLP). • Data management/curation - such as the manipulation and analysis of complex, high volume and high dimensionality data, data modelling. • Data engineering - such as the design of algorithms, implementation of big data solutions, multi-core/distributed processing, SQL and NoSQL database systems, statistical analysis languages and tooling. • Story-telling and data visualisation - including the visualisation of insights drawn from data and building of data-driven products. • Scientific research methods - analytical, independent, critical and curious analysis of data. • Systems engineering - applied to data/information/intelligence challenges in complex environments Data Scientist Benefits - • Holiday allowance - 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years' service in addition to public holidays • Good work-life balance - family-friendly working options including flexible working arrangements Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm • Free onsite car parking • Onsite childcare at the Newport office, pre-school childcare vouchers and play schemes during Easter and summer at a lower rate • Career development and progression - a recognised silver-accredited Investor in People.
