Experience in training isn't as important as your knowledge and 'presence' in this role, as we know that people who are passionate about what they do can naturally teach other people. There are training centres around Europe. This role is based in amazing offices in St Neots. There are on-site residence suites, restaurants ad cafés and a lovely town centre nearby. The courses are usually delivered over 7 to 10 days straight so you'll be with your students for all of this time - mixing between classroom training and allowing the students to self- learn and discover, remaining on site to assist and support as necessary. The Detail We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help us build out our data products and cloud applications such as recommendation engines. The successful candidate will be part of a highly innovative team, and will be responsible for building rapid PoCs as well as massively scalable ETL pipelines and APIs. This new role will report to the Head of Data Science and will be working closely with the technology teams to formulate strategic solutions utilising the most suitable technologies. Key responsibilities will entail Research and experiment with emerging technologies through testing and prototyping their applicability to our data analysis and machine learning needs. Design, build, refine and tune our data infrastructure. Design and build REST APIs for storage and consumption of data products. Lead implementation of strategic ad-hoc data tools in collaboration with Data Scientists and other stakeholders. Bridge the gap between algorithmic driven research and production ready engineering. Code tuning and performance optimisation of algorithms for bespoke personalisation and recommendation engines. Mentor more junior engineers. Essential Minimum 5 years of experience writing production software, with previous experience working on large scale distributed systems. Ability to work with Hadoop, Kafka, Storm, Pig, Hive, Spark as needed to build applications. Experience writing apps on top of SQL and NOSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Redis, Neo4j, Cassandra, SQL, etc) Experience working with AWS/Azure cloud architecture, distributed systems, data modeling and machine learning. Experience in the design, development and release of enterprise scale applications. Excellent programming and technical skills (e.g.,C#, F#, C++, Java, Scala, Python). Excellent team working attitude with analytical and creative problem solving abilities. Strong bias towards action.
