Our Vacancy: We are looking for a full time qualified Dental Nurse to form a valuable part of our friendly, dedicated, professional and caring clinical team. Our service is spread across Surrey providing special care dentistry at 10 clinics, including dental treatment under General Anaesthesia at two Surrey NHS Hospitals. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality care to people of all ages and from a diverse range of backgrounds who are referred to us with a range of complex medical and physical conditions which makes accessing routine dentistry difficult for them. The position is based in the South West of Surrey covering Guildford, Farnham and Haslemere with the occasional requirement to work at our other clinics across Surrey as the need arises. You will be working alongside a team of fellow dedicated and highly skilled dental professionals. As a Dental Nurse with Virgin Care you will assist the Community Dental Service clinicians and other clinical staff to carry out their duties for a variety of service, including minor oral surgery, domiciliary visits and oral health promotion. It is an exciting time for the Community Dental Service and this role offers you a real opportunity to add value to the local community as well as broaden your experience. The position involves all usual Dental Nurse duties including: Assisting the community dental service clinicians throughout the treatment session and supervising patients until they are able to leave the surgery Providing advice to Patient/Parents/Carers regarding patient care packages, which include Oral Health Promotion, as well as advice for general, enquires, dental emergences, traumas where necessary Entering patient details onto computer system, completing and amending records with patient details, helping patients or their representatives to complete medical history forms Prepare surgery for use at beginning of clinical session & ensuring that correct closing down procedures are followed at the end of a session and that the room is left clean and safe Stock control of equipment and materials Preparing filling materials, impression materials, instruments on and off tray systems, syringes and other material and equipment as required Decontamination of instruments and equipment following HTM 01-05 guidance and Service procedures. The essential qualities we are looking for in our Dental Nurse applicant are: National Certificate/Diploma in Dental Nursing Full current registration with the GDC Evidence of CPD since qualification Current infection control knowledge Experience of working within a team Awareness of confidentiality issues The ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own workload Desire to undertake further training as appropriate Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management and organisational skills Community Dental Service experience is also desirable but not essential.
