Transport Planner. Rochdale. Upto £28,000 per annum. Monday to Friday. (Day shifts with occasional night shifts to cover holidays). The main purposes of the role are... Transport planning within the UK (predominantly the North). Mainly working on day shifts between 7am and 7pm (9 hours a day). Occasional night shifts to cover holidays (between 510 weeks per year). Responsible for efficiently planning all incoming and outgoing collections/deliveries. Key responsibilities... DAY SHIFT Plan collections/deliveries using TMS. Allocate jobs to drivers and vehicles. Telephone calls from drivers, customers & suppliers. R esolve queries when on route. Monitor all collections & deliveries, reporting any discrepancies. Ensure all service documents are sent to the appropriate department or account manager. Uphold internal quality benchmarks. Driver debrief on their return. NIGHT SHIFT Plan collections/deliveries using TMS. Responsible for creating standard vehicle tours in TMS. Responsible for the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and any other data which comes up during the shift. Planning of all vehicle schedules for inbound arrivals. Communicate with Transit Terminal Operatives. Uphold internal quality benchmarks. Driver briefing, dispatching and support. Requirements of the candidate... 2 years experience in a Transport/Logistics environment. Experience in working alongside Drivers. Role The successful candidate will be assisting the Manager in the smooth operation of the Transport Office, compiling and maintaining documentation and managing information. Ensuring drivers depart and arrive on time, processing vital information, issuing journey details and booking staff on and off shift, this is a very challenging and demanding role. Responsibilities include: Brief and debrief the drivers on both departure and return from each journey. To effectively communicate via telephone to customers and Depots, ensuring incoming calls are answered and dealt with promptly. To assist the management team in providing a professional service. To work well within the transport team function to ensure deadlines are met. Generate driver journey sheets from in house computer systems and issue to drivers.
