Transport Planner Location: Milton Keynes Salary: £26,000 per annum Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 45 hours per week About the Company: Bibby Distribution Ltd has been operating under the Bibby Line Group umbrella since 1985 servicing household names from our 70 locations across the UK. What is the role? An excellent opportunity exists within Bibby Distribution for an experienced Transport Planner to become part of our operation at our Milton Keynes depot. To arrange the delivery of the customer's product on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible and best use of available resources, whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety. Transport Planner Responsibilities: Plan all relevant customer deliveries utilizing the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met. Liaise with the Driver in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery. Liaise with the Customer in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery. Develop back haul lanes with both BDL depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilization. Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with our PSL) providing an accurate brief of job required. Source local sub-contractors as and when required. Complete a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines. Ensure loads meet safety standards. Manage the Drivers ensuring start times are adhered to Pre-Brief Drivers to ensure that they fully understand their instructions. De-Brief Drivers upon their return to ensure that all documentation has been completed correctly. Manage WTD Compliance Download Driver cards for analysis Comply with all Transport legislation reducing tachograph infringements to below the company target and adhering to WTD regulations. Conduct regular meetings/ reviews including probation assessments and return to work interviews. Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist. Communicate routes to and liaise with other Bibby Depots Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stand trailers. Administration of run shifts (file/ update globally) Fully understand agreed KPI's for Department All other transport office related duties Transport Planner Requirements: Experience of working in a busy Transport office Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation Knowledge of Continuous Improvement. Good standard of education IT literate Knowledge of Health & Safety Commercial understanding Knowledge of transport systems. A well respected integrated logistics business that operates across road, sea and air on a global basis has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join their growing team in the Daventry area on a full time, permanent position. The position would suit an individual who comes from a manual transport planning background who fully understands weight and size restrictions and the planning of unusual loads as the distribution of their clients products includes heavy machinery parts, which can be oversized and certainly not your typical product base. This is very much a stand alone position and it will be your responsibility to work with the team of drivers to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved through effective route planning on multidrop deliveries. You must possess sound geographical knowledge and have excellent interpersonal communicational skills to be able to communicate at all levels. The role will at times be challenging, demanding and highly pressured, but it will also provide variety and autonomy. You will need to demonstrate common sense, retain a professional, diplomatic approach (with a sense of humour), be able to pick things up quickly, think on your feet and be strong minded with a strength of character whilst retaining a positive attitude at all times. You must be computer literate and must possess a proactive, pragmatic and organised approach to your planning duties. You will work Monday to Friday 5am to 2pm. Salary for this opportunity is £21k, with midweek overtime paid at £15 per hour and £22.50 per hour on a Saturday. Saturday overtime is on a rota (one in two or one in three dependant on staff levels) Overtime during the week is just 12 hours, where required.
