A rare opportunity has arisen for a Transport Supervisor to join a well established company in Ringwood. Job purposes: To ensure the smooth operation of all fleet vehicles, route plan, assist with breakdowns, licence checks and ensuring all 14 drivers are looked after. Duties: To ensure all deliveries are completed and dispatched daily. Routing drivers to ensure the most economical route is taken, no vans to go overweight. Monitor holiday cover and peak periods. Maintenance and servicing of all vehicles including all checks. Looking after the tracking system on all vehicles. Maintenance of grounds and machinery. Ensuring all deliveries are carried out including making some themselves if required. Liaising with internal departments over deliveries and special requirements. Good IT skills. Recruiting new team members. Making sure that all personnel are trained to the expected standard of each individual job role. To be available out of hours if the alarms are sounded (key holder). To complete all the returned collection notes that have been processed ad placed in the collection area daily, and returning to credit control on completion. Ensure all damages and shorts are reported to the purchasing department. To ensure that the vehicles are being utilised to their full potential, ensuring that delivery performance is being managed. Run an order status report daily ensuring that all orders are captured and if any underlining issue that is preventing dispatch then this is communicated to the sales team. To communicate to the Warehouse Supervisor at all times on decisions that could affect the daily performance of the contract. Additional duties: Covering the Warehouse Supervisor when they are on holiday. Run picking sheets for the warehouse team. To collect and process all orders that have been placed from the answer phone/fax machine that is for delivery prior to vehicles leaving. Ensure all documentation is available for each deriver prior to vans leaving. To conduct circle counts (stock take) assisting in improving stock accuracy and aiming for a 99.8% accuracy level. Ensure all purchase orders are receipted for all stock that has arrived, releasing stock for all deliveries due out the next day. Hours 05:00 15:30 subject to business requirements. A well respected integrated logistics business that operates across road, sea and air on a global basis has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join their growing team in the Daventry area on a full time, permanent position. The position would suit an individual who comes from a manual transport planning background who fully understands weight and size restrictions and the planning of unusual loads as the distribution of their clients products includes heavy machinery parts, which can be oversized and certainly not your typical product base. This is very much a stand alone position and it will be your responsibility to work with the team of drivers to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved through effective route planning on multidrop deliveries. You must possess sound geographical knowledge and have excellent interpersonal communicational skills to be able to communicate at all levels. The role will at times be challenging, demanding and highly pressured, but it will also provide variety and autonomy. You will need to demonstrate common sense, retain a professional, diplomatic approach (with a sense of humour), be able to pick things up quickly, think on your feet and be strong minded with a strength of character whilst retaining a positive attitude at all times. You must be computer literate and must possess a proactive, pragmatic and organised approach to your planning duties. You will work Monday to Friday 5am to 2pm. Salary for this opportunity is £21k, with midweek overtime paid at £15 per hour and £22.50 per hour on a Saturday. Saturday overtime is on a rota (one in two or one in three dependant on staff levels) Overtime during the week is just 12 hours, where required. As a Transport Planner, your role will involve: Receive and process orders from customers effectively and in a timely manner Provide accurate and efficient transportation of products to all internal/external customers via own fleet and external hauliers Ensure clear instruction on delivery scheduling is supplied to company and external drivers Scheduling of vehicles for repairs, service and annual MOT To build and develop positive relationships with customers and external hauliers Ensure that drivers day sheets are faxed daily to drivers, and/or that drivers are clearly instructed on what to do and when The successful applicant will need to have the following qualities/skills: Transport Planning experience is essential Construction industry knowledge preferred but not essential Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills Strong planning, organisational and numeracy skills Excellent administration skills and attention to detail Hard working and highly motivated Sound geographical knowledge of the area Good computer skills and able to learn new IT systems quickly In return you will benefit from 25 days holidays plus bank holidays, contributory pension scheme and onsite car parking.
