Grinder/Hone Setter Operator Location: Basingstoke Salary: Competitive Hours: 37.5 hours per week, rotating weekly shift pattern; Monday - Friday 06:30 - 14:30 & 14:00 - 22:00 Main Purpose of the Grinder/Hone Setter Operator: Carry out all operations involved in the Grinding and Honing of parts made on the CNC section. The successful candidate will have a proven background in cylindrical grinding, hold a wheel certificate and be able to change / balance grinding wheels. They will also be required to make speed / feed adjustments to maintain the quality of components during production. Providing support/training and training reviews of other staff members will be required. Responsibilities of the Grinder/Hone Setter Operator: Ensure that all duties are completed in a safe manner Produce components using manual cylindrical grinding and honing machines. Provide training to others as required (grinding/honing setting, altering sizes, measurement techniques etc.) Provide day-to-day support for the grinding and honing section and ensure that manufactured parts conform to drawing Improve and maintain housekeeping standards Maintain/improve/implement Health and Safety best practice Support Engineering department with implementation of best practice techniques, training, new parts introduction. Support QC functions as appropriate Any other duties required Requirements of the Grinder/Hone Setter Operator: Essential Recognised engineering apprenticeship with experience within a manufacturing/production environment. Abrasive wheel regulations certified. Experienced in Aerospace or Automotive Manufacturing specifically to cylindrical grinding. An understanding of tooling selection and fixturing.
